The musk ox or is actually closer related to sheep or goats than to the common cow. It s thick fur serves to keep out the winter cold but in fact it keeps the animal so well insulated that it can only run for short distances as not to overheat.

A large male can weigh up to 350 - 400 kg. This particular one was checking me out from about 20 meters in distance but calmly went away after a short while.

Meltwater river on Greenland Icecap

The meltwater river flows out of the lakes and goes down the drain in so called moulins. The moulins are wells that goes all the way to the bottom of the ice and when the water reaches that level it helps to lubricate the ice making it to move faster towards the edges where it breaks of into the ocean.
